Properties for Sale in Afra
Central Corfu is the most populous portion of the island, peppered with pretty villages and busy towns and complemented by topography that comprises undulating hills and valleys. You’ll also find historical attractions like Achilleion Palace and a charming culture that captivates visitors from far and wide.
Tourist hotspots include Pelekas, Kommeno, Benitses and Dassia, but the small village of Afra is a hidden gem for anyone who appreciates a quiet sanctuary amidst beautiful bucolic countryside. Just 10km away from capital Kerkyra and 6km from Kontokali and Gouvia, this is an almost exclusively residential area with a few small cafes and a pharmacy being the only commercial properties, but it’s also less than 3km from Agios Ioannis, a busier settlement where you’ll find shops and restaurants.
But in an island blessed by an abundance of aesthetically pleasing locations, Afra’s beauty still shines brightly ̶ it’s perched along a ravishing range of hills above the prairie of Ropas and if you take a guided trek here you’ll find ancient stone bridges and romantic abandoned buildings like the ruined Kourkoumelis mansion.
Furthermore, Afra’s central strategic location makes it an ideal base for beach excursions to destinations like Glyfada, Kontogialos and Ypsos.

Although artisan coffee and countryside strolls are about as wild as it gets in Afra proper, there’s still a range of varied attractions nearby.
For instance, the Kapodistrias Museum is just 0.6km away ̶ it’s the family home of Ionannis Kapodistrias, the first Governor of Greece, who was born in Corfu and rose to the highest rank as an esteemed diplomat. As well as learning about this heroic figure, you can tree bathe in the gorgeous gardens, enjoy inspirational views of the Ionian sea and treat yourself to refreshments at the onsite café.
If you prefer something a little more invigorating, make a splash at Aqualand Corfu Water Park, which is 1.9km away and comprises 75,000 metres of rides, slides, pools and relaxation areas designed to pack as much pleasure into your visit as possible.
Finally, if you’re here around the start of September, you can catch the town festival and enjoy traditional food, music, dancing and costumes.
