Properties for Sale in Alepou

Corfu Town charms locals and visitors alike with its bustling bars, chic cafes, excellent eateries, magnificent museums, fantastic fortifications and romantic ruins.

But it’s also complemented by sublime suburbs like Kanalia, Kontokali, Gouvia and, last but most definitely not least, Alepou.

A southwestern suburb of the island’s capital, this is a popular residential area with ample amenities, public services, shops and supermarkets and its status in relationship to Kerkyra has been mentioned in contemporary historical sources since the 16th Century.

The provenance of the name Alepou is hotly debated  ̶  some claim it’s named after aloupou grapes which grew in the area, others say it pays homage to the Alpuzza family who were major local landowners, while it may simply be a straightforward reference to the wily foxes which frequent the area.

It’s believed that the first settlers here were agricultural labourers who earned their crust in the surrounding fields and the main landmark was the Agia Paraskevi temple, built in 1584.

If living close to the capital in an attractive suburb sounds ideal, a warm welcome awaits in Alepou  ̶  read on for more background information.
