Agios Stephanos Sinies is a traditional fishing village on the northeast side of Corfu. “Sinies” is a nearby village, and the name is used to avoid confusion between this Agios Stephanos and the other namesake village located on the opposite side of the island. Corfu Town is 35km away.

The bay of Agios Stephanos Sinies consists of a harbor and a small pebble beach on the left side with crystal clear waters. There are sunbeds and umbrellas for rent on the beach. Visitors can taste genuine Corfiot cuisine at one of the tavernas or enjoy their drinks at the waterfront bars, looking across the opposite Albanian coastline (the strait is 1.2 miles long) or watching the large cruisers going to Italy pass by.

The location is stunningly beautiful. Olive groves and forests surround the settlement, and there is greenery as far as the eye can see. The harbor is nestled between rolling hills, adding a dramatic touch to the overall splendor.

Though a quiet place, Agios Georgios Sinies has grown to be a luxury resort. This is because many renowned domestic and foreign businesspeople and VIPs have chosen to have their private villas built on the slopes towering the settlement. Also, many high-end people visit the area by boat or yacht to taste the incredibly fresh fish these waters provide.

In fact, Agios Georgios Sinies is situated in the middle of a coastal area of Corfu called “Kensington-on-Sea” by the English media. It took its name from the famous Kensington area of London, which is a hot spot for wealthy visitors. Near Agios Stephanos, a sizeable seaside estate belongs to the prominent Rothschild family. The estate’s luxury villa has hosted members of the British Royal Family in the past, plus other celebrities. It was one of Princess Diana’s favorite summer retreats, and Prince Charles and Camilla have also stayed here.

Kerasia Beach

Kerasia lies 2.5km south of Agios Stefanios Sinies. It is an amazingly beautiful coast with blue and green crystal clear waters, white pebbles, stunning coves, and tree lines behind it, all the way up to the lush slopes.

Kerasia is a haven of calmness and seclusion away from the massive crowds. Although it is very close to the busy settlement of Kassiopi, it manages to retain its tranquility and relaxed vibe.

On the beach, there is a bar and a taverna if you feel hungry after your swim. It offers a sense of seclusion, and it is no wonder that many wealthy people, including the famous Rothschild family, have decided to have their luxury villa built here.

Avlaki Beach

To the north of Agios Stephanos Sinies, near Kassiopi, you will come upon the quiet bay of Avlaki. It is a beach of large white pebbles that unforgettably reflect the sun, clear blue waters, and endless greenery around.

If you are not a fan of sandy beaches and are looking for a place of unspoiled, pristine nature, Avlaki is the right choice for you. On the beach, there are the basic amenities, and also a school for sailing and windsurfing.

If you feel like exploring the surrounding area on foot, Agios Stephanos Sinies is the perfect base, as it lies right in the middle of the northeast coast.

If you head north and follow the various trails and paths, you will find yourself in the middle of the pristine Erimitis area. It is a headland of unparalleled natural beauty. A precious ecosystem of enormous environmental importance, featuring secluded beaches, rich wildlife, dense vegetation, and three lakes.

If you head inland, tracks and paths will take you through some of Corfu’s nicer villages on hills filled with olive groves. Some of the trails lead to the foothills of Mount Pantokrator, Corfu’s highest peak. There, you will end up in deserted old villages, operating monasteries, and waterfalls.
