Vatonies

Description

Vatonies is a friendly sleepy Corfiot village, located on the breathtaking northwest coast of the island. It is situated just 5 km from the beautiful sandy bay of St George, whilst a short drive brings you to the small town of Agros with its excellent amenities including schools, health centre, pharmacy and a wide variety of shops.

As you stroll through the village you can hear the sound of the church bells, and now and again the braying of a donkey, whilst in the morning the honk of the horn from the baker delivering hot bread straight from the oven brings a gathering of locals down for a chat.

The old folk sit at their doorways chatting about the events of the day and as you pass by they will shout “Kalimera” or maybe “Yassou”. With dramatically stunning views across the valley, lavished with the contrasting colours and foliage from the cypress and olive trees, this village combines all the traditions of Greek life with its beautiful landscape.
